Pearl Jam and Soundgarden tour?

An Australian radio station has prompted speculation that Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are planning a joint tour in 2013 - leading to double duties for Matt Cameron, who plays drums in both bands.

Chris Cornell's outfit have finally confirmed the tracklist for comeback album King Animal, and lead single Been Away Too Long will be hitting airwaves soon.

It was getting hard to tell which band was on stage at the Forum in Los Angeles Friday night, as Soundgarden were joined by Pearl Jam guitarist Mick McCready.

With PJ drummer Matt Cameron doing double-duty in both bands these days, McCready’s guest spot could have gone in a few different directions…into a song by either band, a Temple Of The Dog track, or a cover on its own.

Soundgarden are getting set for their month-long North American summer tour, which kicks off July 2 in Toronto.

The live dates give the band a break from the studio, as the reunited unit continues work on new music.
“Well, our interest is in being a vital band,” guitarist Kim Thayil tells Stereogum.

New Soundgarden material would be natural

(rockaaa) Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil says writing new music is “natural” for the reunited band – and in fact it would be impossible for them not to do it.

In the meantime fans can expect a live album early next year and some early unreleased tracks within 18 months.

But it’s a deliberate gradual return to work for the band, who all have other projects to work on.

Out promoting their career retrospective, "Telephantasm," Soundgarden rocked TBS with a performance of "Black Rain," the previously unreleased track in the collection that was recorded during the 1991 "Badmotorfinger" sessions.

It was the band’s first TV appearance in 13 years, and they actually played two songs for the show.
